New Jersey has new requirements for literacy instruction and professional learning, and they impact educators working with students from preschool through Grade 6.
Under P.L. 2024, c.52, the New Jersey Department of Education has outlined requirements around evidence-based literacy professional learning, universal literacy screening, and supporting students who need additional intervention.
So, what does this mean for your district?
It means this is a good time to take a closer look at what you are currently doing for literacy professional learning, how you are using your screening and assessment data, and whether your teachers have the ongoing support they need to put evidence-based literacy practices into action.
